Nominations, ballots, and new officers
Reorganization, without the paper ballots.
The open seats, the nominations, the slate, and the vote, run from the office and answered from a phone. When it is finished, the new officers are in the church's structure with their terms.
Start with the seats that are open
ChurchKeeper reads the terms already on record and lists the seats that come open at the next reorganization. A three-seat board with one seat ending shows one race, not three. Each race gets a list of members who fit the role, and the office can add or skip anyone before nominations open.
Invite the voters by email
Each voter gets an email with their own link. Choose everyone, or uncheck the people who should not receive it. Members who have a login can also vote from the member portal, where a notice at the top of their home page tells them voting is open.
Nominate from a phone
The link opens the ballot on a phone or a computer. There is no login and no password. Every race shows who holds the seat now and who is eligible, with the offices each person already carries. A voter may skip any race, and each voter receives an email copy of their own choices.
Build the slate from the nominations
When nominations close, the counts are totaled by office. One click proposes a slate of two for every seat from the leading nominees, and the office can change any name before the vote goes out. A second email opens the slate vote the same way.
Votes are kept without names
A vote is stored with the race and the candidate, and nothing else. The office sees the totals and how many have voted. No one, including the office, can see who voted for whom. A tie is shown plainly and waits for the church's decision, and nothing is published until every race has a recorded result.
The new officers, with their terms
Publishing writes each new officer to the church's structure with the start and end of the term. The outgoing officer finishes the term already on record, and anyone whose term continues is left as they are. Incoming officers show as upcoming until their term begins. The results can be announced to the congregation by email in the same step.
